Job Description The Operations Manager reports directly to the President and is responsible for overall operations performance with respect to cost, inventory turns, on-time delivery, lead-time and quality. A primary charge of his position will be to bring a new level of sophistication to the management team and to positively impact on time delivery, scheduling budgeting, forecasting and revenue growth. The Operations Manager will supervise and work closely with the managers in manufacturing, materials, engineering, quality, production planning finance, to meet the customer's requirements and the division's business goals. This individual is being hired to effect positive change. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Lead and manage production supervision, production material control and manufacturing engineering to achieve company goals. * Within the first thirty days evaluate scheduling and develop plans to increase on time delivery in the short term with an eye to implementing an effective long term scheduling system. * Initially evaluate staff and implement performance development programs to positively impact the effectiveness of direct reports to this role. * Evaluate overall plant performance, identify keys areas of improvement, develop and implement a performance improvement. * As quickly as realistically possible develop and implement a "lean initiatives program" and champion the implementation of lean practices throughout the organization. * Plan and provide the necessary resources to meet external and internal commitments while maintaining budgetary control. * Assure that appropriate equipment is provided, adequately maintained and safely operated. * Assure that capacity levels are maintained to match demand in the short term and long term. Participate in long-range planning and budget preparation. * Work closely with engineering, procurement, contracts and customer support, product support, quality, sales and marketing, finance and other functional organizations as well as customers and suppliers to meet or exceed customer needs. * Conduct and/or facilitate the use of value stream mapping. * Lead and/or Facilitate Kaizen Events. * Develop employees to reach their maximum potential. * Build a highly skilled, highly regarded and highly motivated customer focused team. * Major accountabilities include, but are not limited to:  On Time Delivery  Lead Time Reduction  Quality Improvement  Product Cost Reduction  Productivity Improvement  Inventory Turn Improvement  R&O Turnaround Time Improvement * The Operations Manager is responsible for insuring that metrics are understood by all members of the value stream and that results are maintained and displayed on a timely basis.  
Education
Requirements
In general, the Operations manager will be an accomplished manufacturing operations professional capable of evidencing a successful track record in leading an organization. Additional qualifications and experience will include the following: * Possessive of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or within a technical engineering discipline. * Seven or more years experience with four or more in a management capacity. * Experience in an aero-space metal forming manufacturing environment with an engineered product. * Will be a proven successful supervisor. * Possessive of previous P&L, budget and forecasting experience. * Experience in an organized labor environment is highly preferred. * Experience with lean manufacturing, TQM and or World Class Manufacturing is essential. Black Belt certification highly preferred. * Will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Capable of developing training and development programs. * Experience in recruiting and building a staff which will include performance improvement programs, accountability, performance reviews, hiring and termination if required.
