Job Description  

The Director of Operations will report directly to the Vice President of the Business Unit.   The Director of Operations will have overall responsibility for the leadership of approximately 110 production employees currently employed. Manage predicted growth at the site.  It is an opportunity for leadership of a successful division that is part of a stable diversified corporation.  More specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:  



 

§         Exceed customer expectations with regard to delivery and quality of products by leading and interfacing with the key staff members and continuing to develop a cohesive execution team.    Current direct staff includes:  Material/Purchasing Manager, Production Manager, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Facilities Manager and a Quality Manager.

 

§         Responsible for performance to budget by monitoring and leading the improvement in component manufacturing utilizing lean and six-sigma initiatives (among others) with the full time black belt resident at the site. 

 

§         Management of Supply Chain initiatives by developing and fostering key vendor relationships.

 

§         Provide leadership at site as it evolves to a state of the art electronic component manufacturing facility, by benchmarking and networking with electronic industry counterparts.

 

§         Direct the allocation of resources and activities within the electronic operations to ensure that the needs of development, production and new business pursuits are met.

 

§         Recommend and implement any necessary hiring or reductions in force. 

 

§         Assist in the career planning of subordinates through performance evaluations, seminar and technical course recommendations, periodic career and task assignment consultations.

 

§         Provide leadership, direction and authority with regard to all new product development and transitions of products to production within the division.

 

§         Provide management and expertise to optimize capital expenditures in conjunction with the facilities department.

The successful candidate will be ready to embark on a challenging new assignment.  This position is key within the organization.  The Director of Operations will have high visibility and success will open up future opportunities for the valued individual in a variety of potential areas.  Growth potential includes but is not limited to leadership of a business unit and/or General Management positions within organization. 

 

Of utmost importance is the leadership this candidate will bring to the division as it moves through a  a transition of legacy products to new and differentiated products in Power Distribution.  Candidates should have the following qualifications:

 



 

§         Strong leadership skills as evidenced by past achievements and promotions.

 

§         Must be an expert in the production of low volume, high quality electronic components and assemblies. 

 

§         Highly preferable to have an aerospace or defense background.

 

§         Ability to measure and evaluate the status of electronic projects relative to their schedule, cost, technical objectives and conformance to contract requirements.

 

§         Historic achievement in building strong teams and fostering relationships both internal and external highly valued.

 

§         Possess a four year degree (prefer BSEE) with an MBA a strong plus.

 

§         Strong background in directing the allocation of resources to ensure that the needs of development, production and new business pursuits are supported.

 

§         Strength in delegating and enlisting the talents of others to help meet objectives.  Even those that are peer level or that do not directly reported to you.

 

§         Prior experience in implementing lean manufacturing initiatives essential.

 

§         Broad experience in multiple disciplines highly regarded.
