Job Description  

As Aircraft Group Quality Manager, lead seven Managers/Supervisors and 130 employees across the five locations. Primary responsibility is leading a management team in organizing, implementing and administration of complex quality programs; insuring compliance with customer, government and quality requirements; and meeting division and company quality objectives.  This position reports directly to the Corporate Vice President of Process and Product Assurance with a matrixed responsibility to the Group Vice President of Operations. More specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:  



 

§         Develop, maintain and administer a cost-effective Quality Assurance organization possessing a high degree of integrity in support of Group, and Corporate objectivities.  

 

§         Implement new business and technology methodologies that provide improvements in product quality, process control and cost.  

 

§         Develop process tools capable of anticipating possible quality problems with the intention of preventing defect occurrences.

 

§         Benchmark other companies and industries to understand tools that can be utilized within the unique culture, in an aerospace setting, that results in process yields of 50 NPPM.  

 

§         Select, appraise, develop and motivate competent personnel within the organization.

 

§         Develop a Quality functional strategy within the Group that fits within Corporate Quality guidelines, and involves frequent interaction with other functional Senior Managers on an inter- and intra-group basis to achieve common, mutual interest objectives.

 

§          Lead the group by providing strategic direction and  setting of tangible goals.  

 

§         Provide info to the Aircraft Steering committee on the status of Quality.  Develop new methods to evaluate the trends with in the organization.  Provide active feed back on open issues as well as trends seen in the organization.  

 

§         Provide QA related key performance parameters and usable metrics.

The successful candidate will be ready to embark on a challenging new assignment.  This position is key within the Senior Leadership team that with high visibility and success will open up future opportunities for the valued individual.  Of utmost importance is the leadership this candidate will bring to the quality group.  Candidates should have the following qualifications:

 



 

§         Strong leadership skills as evidenced by past achievements and promotions.

 

§         Historic achievement in building strong teams and fostering relationships both internal and external. 

 

§         Preferable to have a motion systems background.  Aerospace experience preferred but not required.

 

§         Possess a technical degree: BSEE or BSME with an additional minimum of eight years industry experience in Quality.

 

§         It is preferable to have experience in the electro-mechanical industry and substantial working knowledge of production operations.

 

§         Prior experience in lean manufacturing and six sigma initiatives nice to have.

 

§         Management experiences of a minimum of seven years are a must-have for success in this role.

 

§         Operations and/or Engineering experience well regarded.
