POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY  



 

Reporting to the Group Leader, the Mechanical Engineering Analyst will be responsible for supporting systems actuation product design and development.  Applications include but are not limited to mechanical weapons systems, guided munitions and weapons systems design. The position will further include involvement on many varieties of actuation systems used on board manned and unmanned aircraft and missiles. The majority of the work will be analysis and some design including Design Analysis Reports. Additional responsibilities may include but not be limited to the following:

 



 

·        Support design, prototyping and testing of actuation systems through analysis.

 

·        Interface and work with team members across all disciplines and at all levels within the organization.

 

·        Create and run models using Pro-E, Pro-Mathmatica and/or various complex modeling programs.

 

·        Prove out or validate all analysis and recommendations through testing.

 

·        Provide analysis on mechanical assemblies, electromechanical actuation systems, mechanical weapons systems and all related components.

 

·        Material analysis to include material selection based on requirements.

 

·        Work closely with motor engineering team and make correct motor size recommendations.

 

·        Develop formal, complete design analysis reports and or any other required reports to validate analysis. 

 

·        Work with vendors and customers as necessary including traveling when required.

 

·        Work on multiple projects as required remaining flexible to changes in priorities as necessary.

 

·        Based on experience (but not required) perform gear train analysis, jack and ball screw efficiencies, bearing loads, calculating rates of travel, torque and inertia.

 

·        Perform and compete special projects as required.

The Mechanical Engineering Analyst will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aircraft Structural Engineering or other related technical degrees. MS is desirable and five plus years of experience. A strong knowledge and understanding of general analysis programs is required. More specific skill and experience will include but not be limited to the following:

 



 

·        Must understand and have design analysis with mechanical assemblies and actuation devices.

 

·        U.S. Citizenship is a must. Permanent resident may be considered but is less desirable. Ability to travel when necessary.

 

·        Can evidence the skill, experience and ability to create and perform modeling using PRO-E and other various complex modeling programs ((IDEAS, SDRC, or ANSYS).

 

·        Can and has supported design, prototyping and testing.

 

·        Possessive of a strong background developing all necessary documentation including pulling together full design analysis packages.

 

·        Is knowledgeable of and can evidence the ability to perform all necessary design analysis calculations.

 

·        Easily works across all disciplines, with customers and vendors.

 

·        Can successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, shift focus with changing priorities and still complete projects on schedule.

 

·        Possessive of all basic computer skills including word, power point and excel.
