POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

 

Overall responsibility will be to join and integrate into a software group developing and supporting software and software systems for the Aircraft Health Usage Management System. This integrated aircraft Health Management System or HUMS provides aircraft systems health assessments of all monitored on board systems. This data is used to improve aircraft readiness and less time based maintenance activities. The captured data is also used as a pilot training enhancement. HUMS is an on board and ground based system. The onboard system captures real time data which is downloaded to ground based systems used by ground maintenance crews. Depending upon experience the software engineer will support on board systems or ground base systems. Specific responsibilities shall include but are not limited to the following:

 



 

·        Working to systems level requirements and at the direction of Team Lead or Group Manager, develop software for the on board or ground based system.

 

·        Develop test requirements and cases for formal verification of software.

 

·        Create technical documentation in support of software development and test activities as required.

 

·        Work collaboratively with other team members and across disciplines to complete projects according to deadlines and schedules.

 

·        Participate in project peer review and formal review activities.

In general this position requires an individual to possess as well as evidence thorough knowledge and ability to develop detailed software from design, specifications and requirements. This is not a software test, verification or tuning position. The individual must be capable of developing new code. In addition, broad analytical skill and the ability to balance requirements are essential.

 



 



 

·        US Citizenship is a must (Canadian citizenship with permanent work status may be considered)

 

·        Having achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with focus on Computer Science is a must.

 

·        Possessive of 3-10 years professional experience in software development preferred.

 

·        Proven ability to write efficient, concise technical documentation is essential.

 

·        Motivation and ability to work in a team based environment with frequent contact and interaction across functional responsibilities is considered indispensable for this position.

 

·        For on board monitoring systems a background in C, ADA and Assembly language experience is highly preferred with solid understanding and experience in embedded systems.

 

·        Past or current experience with DO-178B Standards very desirable.

 

·        For ground based systems a background with data retrieval of real time, equipment based, systems with the ability to develop code to capture and display information.

 

·        Further experience for ground based  system will  include user interface design, networking, experience with windows based technologies, .net, c#, c++, oracle 10G.

 

·        Proven ability to write efficient, concise technical documentation is essential.

 

·        Desire and ability to work in a team based environment with frequent contact and interface across functional disciplines is considered indispensable for this position.
