Job DescriptionThe Design/Project Engineer will report to Design Engineering Manager. The engineering team includes a total of eighteen (18) engineers, technicians and draftsman of a variety of experience levels and backgrounds engaged in designing the products, designing the tooling, developing the processes and supporting prototyping and manufacturing. * The key responsibility of this position is to be both a hands-on design and process engineer, in addition to managing the flow and status of key aerospace and medical composite design projects. * These responsibilities will include: o Managing the projects from conception to production. o Design, using 3D CAD (UG and/or Solidworks) components for aerospace and medical customers. o Perform structural analysis and execute and manage testing as required. o Develop, maintain and nurture relationships with key composite vendors. o Interface with the design and process engineers working in teams. o Develop or assist in the tool conceptualization and design process. o Interfacing with customers on design related and project status related issues. o Support and/or lead allowable generation efforts for composite materials. o Develop Bills of Materials and Operation Instructions for the manufacture of components. o Develop prototype components and manage the first article inspection efforts. o Manage the costs of engineering efforts, raw materials and tooling per project per budget. o Support proposal efforts as required.

The successful candidate will be ready to embark on a challenging new assignment. The position is vacant due to growth within the organization. Candidates should have the following qualifications: * Having attained a Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structures is a must. * Three years experience in working with composites in either or both the design and production environments. * Creative design experience is required. * Proficiency in utilizing 3D Cad systems for design necessary. * Aerospace or Medical background, tooling design, allowable generation and project management experience all considered a plus. * Sales, estimating, and costing experience considered beneficial.
